HandsFree has not carried a passenger yet. Nothing on this site is a measured result. Every figure is a plan or a target, and the published numbers begin the week the first car does.

Draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer

Terms and privacy, in words that mean something.

Written to be read rather than to be unreadable. That is a deliberate trade-off and it has a cost, noted below.

These terms are not in force, and nothing on this site can be booked yet

HandsFree is not carrying passengers. There is no contract between you and us, and this page describes the terms we intend to operate under rather than terms that currently bind anyone.

It is also a working draft. A company carrying passengers for money needs its terms, liability limits, insurance disclosures and privacy policy reviewed by a Tennessee attorney before it takes its first fare — particularly the sections about who is responsible while driver-assistance is engaged. That review happens before we carry anyone, and everything below is a starting point for it rather than a substitute for it.

The short version

  • We intend to drive you places in a Tesla. A licensed human is responsible for the vehicle at all times, whether or not the driver-assistance system is engaged.
  • We collect the minimum needed to run the ride, and we keep it briefly.
  • We will publish safety data about how the cars behave. It will never contain anything that identifies you.
  • We never sell your data. There is no advertising business here to sell it to.
  • If we get something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it publicly.

Terms of service

What we're providing

What we intend to provide, once we are operating: passenger transport by road, in vehicles we own or operate, driven by licensed operators employed or contracted by us, fitted with Tesla's Full Self-Driving (Supervised), a Level 2 driver-assistance system. The operator remains the driver of the vehicle at all times and is responsible for its control. Nothing in this service is autonomous transport and nothing we say should be read as offering it.

Fares and payment

Nothing is on sale yet. When it is: fares will be quoted before booking and held for 30 minutes; the quote is an estimate and the final fare follows the actual route and time; we will not apply surge pricing under any circumstance; tolls and a cleaning fee for significant soiling will be additional and itemised; payment will be taken at the end of the trip.

Cancellations

The intended policy, once bookings open: free up to five minutes before the scheduled pickup; after that, or where the vehicle has arrived and waited ten minutes, an $8 fee; reserved bookings made more than 24 hours ahead cancellable free up to two hours before. If we cancel on you, there is no charge and we'll help you find another way.

Your responsibilities as a passenger

Wear a seatbelt for the whole journey, in any seat. Don't distract the operator — they're performing a demanding task that doesn't look like one. Don't interfere with the vehicle's controls. Don't smoke or vape. Legal responsibility for the vehicle sits with the operator; safety in the cabin partly sits with you.

When we can refuse or end a trip

If a passenger is abusive to an operator, interferes with the vehicle, refuses to wear a seatbelt, or is unsafe to carry. Also if conditions become unsafe to continue — weather, road closure, or a fault with the vehicle. In the last case there's no charge and we'll arrange an alternative.

Insurance and liability

No cover is in place today, because no vehicle is carrying passengers today. Commercial passenger insurance meeting or exceeding Tennessee's requirements for transport for hire is a precondition of our first fare, not something already arranged, and we will say so on this page — with the insurer named and the coverage details available on request — on the day it is bound. Until that sentence appears here, assume it has not happened. Liability limits and exclusions also require attorney review before this service operates; the draft language that would normally sit here is deliberately not included, because a limitation clause written by someone who isn't a lawyer is worse than none.

Lost property

Anything found will be logged, held for 30 days and returned free within the service area. After 30 days, unclaimed items go to a local charity shop. We'll check the dashcam to confirm ownership where there's any doubt.

Complaints

Email hello@handsfreefsd.app. A person will respond within two working days. If a complaint involves the vehicle's behaviour it is treated as a safety report, reviewed against the dashcam, and if it turns out to be an intervention we missed, it gets added to the published log.

Privacy

What we collect about you

Only what the ride needs:

  • Name and mobile number, so we can find you and tell you the car's arrived
  • Pickup and drop-off addresses, for the trip itself
  • Payment details, to be handled by a payment processor — we will never hold a card number
  • Anything you tell us in a booking note

No account is required. No tracking of you between rides. No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics on this website, and no cookies beyond what your browser needs to display the page.

How long we keep it
Booking details
90 days, then deleted
Dashcam footage
30 days, then overwritten — unless an incident is under review
Payment records
7 years, because tax law requires it
Safety telemetry
Indefinitely — it contains nothing identifying you
What we publish, and what we never publish

Published weekly: road, approximate time, speed, weather, software version, cause of the intervention, and the operator's written note about it.

Never published: your name, your phone number, your pickup or drop-off address, whether you were even in the car, the operator's name, or any footage.

Operators appear as a stable anonymous ID so patterns per operator remain visible for accountability without identifying the person. If you'd rather no data from your specific trip appeared even in that anonymised form, say so during the ride and it's excluded — we'd rather lose a row than have you uncomfortable.

Dashcam footage

Every vehicle will record continuously, inside and out, and keep 30 days. It exists to protect the operator, the passenger and us, in that order. It is not reviewed routinely — only after an incident, a complaint, or a lost-property claim. It is never published, never shared except with law enforcement on a valid request or with an insurer handling a claim, and never used for marketing.

Your rights

Ask us what we hold on you and we'll tell you within 30 days. Ask us to delete it and we will, except records we're legally required to keep for tax. Ask us to correct something and we'll correct it. Email hello@handsfreefsd.app. There's no form and no fee.

This website

Static pages. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts. The only external request is a web font from Google Fonts, and if that fails the site falls back to fonts already on your machine. The fare estimator runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing anywhere. The forms on this site open your own email app rather than posting to a server.
